Our Mission

Hickory Elementary School, in partnership with parents and community resources, strives to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all children where differentiated learning experiences enable the students to achieve high goals, develop critical thinking skills, contribute to society, and become life-long learners into the 21st Century.

Welcome From Our Principal – Mrs. Kim Pinello

Welcome to Hickory Elementary! Our school has been an integral part of the Hickory community for over ninety years with a rich history of academic excellence and a family atmosphere. At Hickory Elementary each student and their families are readily welcomed in our HES family. It has been our experience that our children receive the best education when our parents, children and our dedicated staff work as a team. It’s a parent’s enthusiasm, support and involvement that inspires children to do their best; and a teacher’s ability to teach what they need to learn. Together we can achieve wonderful things.
Our dedicated staff works tirelessly to stay abreast of best practices in education to ensure that we are able to meet a wide range of learner needs. In addition to our general education curriculum, we offer programs to provide specialized instruction to children who are academically gifted as well as children who are identified with learning difficulties. Our instructional programs infuse technology throughout the day with SMARTBoards and iPads to promote 21st century citizenship.
In closing, I encourage you to fully embrace the moment and urge you to take the time from your busy schedule to become familiar with our school, as well as to create a school-friendly home environment that will allow your children to excel. As a parent myself, I know how fast time goes by. One year your child is in 1st grade and seemingly in the blink of an eye they’re in middle school, or in their senior year of high school for that matter.
Thank you for your commitment to your child’s education and I look forward to seeing you in the very near future. As we say here, “Nothing but the Best, from the Best.
